Happy Birthday

Good Sunday morning everyone,

I hope your weekend is going well. We went luggage shopping yesterday and got a really good deal on two suitcases. We're heading to Portugal and Spain at the end of May for my SO's 60th birthday. YIKES he's old! (don't tell him I said so) We're super excited to say the least.

Today's card (not his) I made for this week's Freshly Made Sketches and Dynamic Duos challenges. The colors this week are Basic Black, Basic Gray and dessert option of a masculine card. I just got my MFT order with the bicycle Die-namics die and couldn't wait to use it.

I used a couple SU embossing folders to add some dimension to the card stock since there isn't much stamping. The buttons are retired SU corduroy basic gray. Gray and black sure don't photograph very well. I even used the "enhance" feature in IPhoto to brighten it up.

Supplies
Stamps: Big Greetings by My Favorite Things
Paper: Basic Black, Basic Gray, Whisper White card stock and ?? patterned paper (very old from a Key Ingredients shipment)
Ink: Memento tuxedo black
Other: Die-namics Bicycle die, SU Polka dot, Stripes, and Houndstooth embossing folders, SU corner rounder and 1" circle punches, SU basic gray corduroy buttons, white floss, silver pearls, the Big Shot, SU glue dots, and dimensiosnals

Have a great day and thanks for looking,
Colleen

Dec. 25

Happy weekend everyone,

I have a very quick post this morning of a simple, quick card that I made for this week's Merry Monday #58 challenge.

I was going to keep it really simple and let the plaid Christmas paper be the focal point, but I just had to add something. Hence, the green rhinestones and mittens.

Supplies
Stamps: Chock-Full Of Cheer set and Tags Till Christmas set both By Stampin' Up
Paper: SU Garden Green and Whisper White card stock and SU DSP
Ink: SU Riding Hood Red and Garden Green
Other: Die-namics Fishtail Flags STAX die, SU punch, Kaiser green and clear rhinestones

Have a great day and thanks for looking in,
Colleen

Amazing, Incredible MOM

Hello,

Mother's Day is only a few weeks away so I thought I'd use Karen's SSSC182 layout to make my mom's card. I love the colors in this bright, flowery paper from Crate Paper and it goes well with this SU Mother's Day set from a few years ago.

I stamped the flower image on SU Very Vanilla and colored it with Copics. The sentiment above was stamped on a piece of the patterned paper with Memento tuxedo black ink. The "MOM" stamp was stamped with Bermuda Bay on Very Vanilla. Each letter is fussy cut and popped up with dimensionals. I added some Star Dust Stickles to the large flower on the image and to the blue parts of the MOM letters. The glitter qualifies this for Linda's Catered Crop Glitter Recipe Swap.

Supplies
Stamps: Messages For Mom set by Stampin' Up
Paper: SU Pool Party, Bermuda Bay and Very Vanilla card stock and Crate Paper "Farmhouse" patterned paper
Ink: Memento tuxedo black, Copics and SU Bermuda Bay
Other: classic circle and scalloped circle Nesties, Star Dust Stickles, Q&Co pearls, sewing machine, the Big Shot, and dimensionals

Thanks for looking,
Colleen

Be Awesome

Hello and welcome to another work week. Yes, it's Monday and time for many of us to go back to work. I'd much rather stamp!

I made this card over the weekend using the MFTWSC119 layout. Lots of layers! I love layers! I also decided to give coloring on kraft card stock with Prismacolor colored pencils a try. After seeing Inge's  tutorial on the MFT Academy and the cards that some of the MFT DT posted like this fabulous creation by Karen Motz how could I not. Clearly, I have some practicing to do, but I think for my first try, not too bad.

The colors that I used for the skin were pretty much what Inge suggested except I don't have the sand colored pencil. The hair I did in 2 grays and black and the leotard in aquas. Some sewing and some Die-namics dies and rhinestones finish off the look.

Here is the inside. I kept it fairly simple.

Supplies
Stamps: PI Gymnast Girl set by My Favorite Things
Paper: SU Pool Party, Taken With Teal and Kraft card stock and Walk In the Park by Echo Park patterned paper
Ink: Memento tuxedo black, SU Taken With Teal and Crumb Cake
Prismacolors Colored Pencils
Other: Die-namics dies, scalloped and classic rectangle Nesties, classic oval Nestie, Kaiser rhinestones,  pink Stickles, sewing machine, the Big Shot, and dimensionals

I hope you have a great week and thanks for looking in,
Colleen

Woo Hoo! Let's Go Eat Cake

Hello,

I made this card yesterday morning for the Seize the Birthday #13 (masculine card) challenge. I really like doing this chalkboard technique. I was noticing that on the cards that I was making however, the white embossing was looking rather dingy. I think that my white embossing powder was too old. I bought some new and this is nice and bright white. Much better!

I used one of the newer single stamps from Stampin' Up to make this birthday card. It's a perfect stamp for this technique. After heating the EP, I colored some of the images with my Prismacolor pencils to look like colored chalk. Love the look!

The inside:

Two more SU sets were used for the inside images.

Supplies
Stamps: SU Woo Hoo single stamp, SU Patterned Party set and SU Happiest Birthday Wishes set
Paper: SU Real Red, Basic Black and Tempting Turquoise card stock and Summertime by Echo Park patterned papers
Ink: SU Craft White, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive
Other: SU corner rounder punch, Die-namics notched border die, Kaiser red pearls, SU white EP, heat tool, the Big Shot and dimensionals

Thanks all,
Colleen

Friendship Is A Great Place

Happy Saturday stamping friends,

It's a very overcast day here in southern California. A perfect day to do two of my favorite things. Stamp and watch baseball and that's exactly what I'm doing.

I've finished one card this morning (so far), but that's not the card I'm posting today. Today's card I made a few nights ago. It uses the Freshly Made sketch #81.

I turned the sketch and made a "landscape" type card to accommodate the image that I wanted to use. The patterned paper is from a bag that a local gift shop here uses to put purchases in. I bought a pair of new earrings recently and when the sales girl handed me the bag I immediately knew I'd use it on a card.

Supplies
Stamps: Best Of Everything set by Stampin' Up
Paper: SU Old Olive, Daffodil Delight and Whisper White card stock, TE dark teal card stock, gift shop bag for patterned paper
Ink: SU Old Olive and Baja Breeze and Memento tuxedo black
Other: SU scalloped edgelit die, SU Daffodil Delight stitched ribbon, SU flower buttons, yellow embroidery thread, SU Framelits dies, Kaiser yellow rhinestones, SU glue dots, the Big Shot, and dimensionals

I hope your Saturday is as relaxing as mine. Thanks for looking today,
Colleen

Hi stamping friends,

I was looking around for a sketch yesterday evening and remembered it was Monday. Two sketches came to mind, Mojo Monday or Merry Monday. Paper: SU Very Vanilla and Bashful Blue card stock and Carta Bella "Merry & Bright" patterned paper
Ink: Memento tuxedo black, Copics

Count Your Buttons

Hi.

I hope you are having a fun weekend. I had stamping time yesterday afternoon and here is one of the cards that I finished. I used the current Dynamic Duos color combination of Cherry Cobbler and Pool Party along with the FTL 235 sketch. (I know that the FTL sketch is supposed to be a Clean and Simple challenge, but I really liked the layout and used it here for a not so clean and simple card).

I certainly had fun coloring up this cute and relatively new PI set. I love the way she turned out. I matched her with the coordinating Die-namics button border die which I also love. Here is the inside:

Supplies
Stamps: Pure Innocence Cute As A Button set by My Favorite Things
Paper: SU Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler and Pool Party card stock and Cosmo Cricket Tea For Two pattern paper
Ink: Memento tuxedo black, SU Cherry Cobbler and these Copics
E50, E01, E11, E83, E21, E15, E18, B00, B01, R37, R39, R89, R35, R46, W2, W6, BG70, BG10
Other: Die-namics Button Border, Notched Border and Banner dies, Kaiser light blue rhinestones, sewing machine, red Stickles, the Big Shot and dimensionals.

Have a great Sunday and thanks for looking,
Colleen

Thank You Very Much

Hi and Happy, Happy Friday,

As always, I'm certainly looking forward to the weekend. How about you? I started mine a little on the early side this afternoon. I finished my work project around 3:30 pm. What else to do but stamp, right? We are meeting a friend in a little while at our favorite wine bar then on to dinner. Good wine, good food and the best of friends. There's no better way to end the week!

My S.O. needs a thank you card for one of his admins and asked me to make one. She likes butterflies so I pulled out some new stamps and dies from Taylored Expressions and made this card using this week's Freshly Made sketch.

I decided to make a standard rectangle card instead of a square one. I love this cutting plate from TE. So cute! Instead of a ribbon and bow, I decided to use some twine and a button. The current Catered Crop recipe swap is to use twine on your project. I'm entering my card there as well.

Supplies
Stamps: Make It Memorable set by Taylored Expressions
Paper: SU Whisper White and Tempting Turquoise card stock and Doodlebug Fruit Salad patterned papers
Ink: SU Pumpkin Pie and Tempting Turquoise
Other: TE Floral cutting plate, TE Make It Memorable coordinating dies, TE medium scalloped border die, TE medium layering doily, twine, SU white pearls, Doodlebug orange pearls, Pebbles lg crystal pearl, TE button, the Big Shot, and dimensionals.

Have a super fab weekend and thanks for looking,
Colleen

Good morning,

I had some stamping time Monday evening and decided to play along with this weeks Mojo Monday challenge.

Paper: SU Riding Hood Red and So Saffron card stock and Echo Park "Sweet Day" patterned paper
Ink: SU Early Expresso
Other: SU Scalloped circle and circle punches, SU doily, Queen and Co red pearls, Fiskers corner rounder, dimensionals

Thanks for looking. Have a great Friday and weekend.

Big Birthday Fishes

Hi stampers,

Here's a quick and simple card that I made using the Seize the Birthday sketch #11. The challenge is to make a masculine card. I went for juvenile masculine. Hopefully, some little guy will like it.

After coloring the shark with Copics, I used dimensionals to give him some lift in the waves. I covered him with Crystal Effects to give him a wet look.

Supplies
Stamps: Under the Sea set by Taylored Expressions
Paper: SU Whisper White card stock and Echo Park Splash patterned paper
Ink: Memento tuxedo black and Copics
Other: TE wave die, Crystal Effects, the Big Shot and dimensionals

Thanks for looking in,
Colleen

Happy Birthday

Hi Stampers,

Here is a card for two challenges, the MFTWSC117 and the Paper Players 139 Tic-Tac-Toe challenge. I chose to use the vertical elements down the right side of the square; Pearls, Birthday, Green and Pink.

As you can see, I paper pieced the birthday girl's dress with the same paper as my background. The rest of her is colored with Copics - E50, E11, E01, E93, Y23, Y26, Y28, R20, R21, RV13, RV17.

Here is a look at the inside:
