Birthday Thank You, Card No. 1

Good morning fellow bloggers,

Today I have a Thank You card that I made to send to my sister and her children for the great birthday gift that I received from them earlier this month.  The sketch is a Sweet Sunday sketch from a couple weeks ago when I couldn't stamp.  The color scheme is from the Curtain Call Color Act challenge from that same time period. The colors are kraft, white, certainly celery and wild wasabi.  I also used stitching on this card.  I have a beautiful Bernina quilting sewing machine that I use for fabric crafts and quilting.  I do not use it for paper, so I ordered this cute little machine from Amazon a few weeks ago to use on my cards.  It's perfect.  It weighs only 6 lbs and it has 8 stitches.  Totally cool.

Supplies:
Stamps: SU Because I Care set
Paper: SU whisper white, kraft, wild wasabi and certainly celery
Patterned paper: Echo Park summertime collection
Ink: SU certainly celery, wild wasabi and crumb cake
Other: SU large oval punch, SU eyelet border punch, classic square Nesties, chocolate ribbon, SU kraft corduroy button, the big shot and dimensionals

Thanks for looking in,
Colleen

TESC122 - CreativiTEA

Hi all,

I have 4 cards for you this afternoon that I made using Taylored Expressions CreativiTEA set.  All of the card stock and patterned papers come from the Paper Girl Card Kit also from Taylored Expressions.

I bought the card kit last April when it was released but didn't do anything with it.  Today I decided it was time to pull it out. I got four cards made before I had to put everything away and head to my physical therapy appointment.

For the first card, I used this weeks TESC 122.  This is a simple sketch that I really had fun embellishing.  I think it turned out pretty cute.

And here are the other three cards:

Supplies:
Stamps: Taylored Expressions CreativiTEA set
Card stock: Taylored Expressions The Paper Girl Card kit
Patterned Paper: the Paper Girl collection from The Girl's Paperie
Ink: memento tuxedo black, memento rich cocoa, memento cantaloupe, Copic markers
Other: Labels 3, labels 9, classic circle, big scalloped circle, classic square and scalloped square Nesties, SU small and large oval punches, SU word window punch, SU corner rounder punch, kaiser pearls, heart rhinestone, ribbon from the Paper Girl Card kit, buttons, linen threat, the big shot, and dimensionals

That's it for today.  Thanks for stopping by,
Colleen

Mojo Monday 149 - It's A Girl Thing

My second post today,

As I'm off work with my broken arm, I took a break from reading to  make a card for today's Mojo Monday sketch.  I haven't done one in quite awhile.  I used a new level 3 Hostess set from Stampin' Up called Playful Pieces.  This set can be used for SO many things.  I highly recommend it.  I used returning in-colors that have become part of the regular SU color family, and added some bling to make it a "girly" birthday card. Check it out:

Supplies:
Stamps: SU new Playful Pieces and retired It's a Girl Thing
Card stock: Riding hood red, baja breeze, pink pirouette, whisper white
Patterned paper: SU retired Bella Rose
Ink: Riding hood red and baja breeze
Other: SU Baja breeze ribbon and silver twine, Taylor's tiny twinkles, SU perfect polka dots embossing folder, classic square and scalloped square nesties, the big shot, and dimensionals

I'll be back tomorrow with another card.
Colleen

Sweet Sunday Sketch - Thank You

Hi fellow stampers,

After several weeks away from stamping due to broken bones in my right arm (elbow mainly), I have healed enough to begin getting back to some activities.  Needless to say, stamping was the first thing I asked the physical therapist if it was okay to do.  While I'm very limited on what I can do with my right arm, (no weight bearing activities and limited mobility) I decided to give it a go.  I picked some projects with limited coloring and I'm using my left hand for most everything major.  This is a great feat for me as before this happened, my left arm/hand was just for balance and decoration rather than actual use, LOL.

On to my card for today.  Since the SSSC has truly been my favorite weekly challenge to participate in, I am using it to get back into the groove.  As usual, Karen has give us a fun layout to use.  I have combined SSSC79 with this weeks Curtain Call Color Challenge Act 40 from over at Stacey Schafer's blog. It's the first time I've done this particular challenge. I was not enthused with the color combination, but gave it a try anyway. I'm not sure if maybe I've gone a little overboard with the embellishments; you know "more isn't always better, sometimes it's just more".  I also got stuck with where to put the greeting until I saw Laura Fredrickson's card here.  I shamelessly used her idea.

Supplies:
Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes by Stampin' Up
Card stock: Basic black textured, kiwi kiss textured, whisper white all Stampin' Up
Patterned paper: Night and Day by Stampin' Up
Ink: Tempting turquoise, real red, kiwi kiss, basic black
Other: Classic oval and scalloped oval nesties, SU small and large oval punches, various SU brads, SU Beautiful Wings embosslits die, red rhinestones, the big shot and dimensionals

I have a few more cards made that I will post in the coming days. Most are "thank you" cards as I've received birthday and "get well" presents from many friends and relatives over the past few weeks. When one is stuck at home with only reading to do, it's so wonderful to receive presents and cards in the mail.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and has a great coming week. Thanks for stopping by,
Colleen

My Last Post for Several Weeks

Hi fellow stampers and bloggers,

I am so bummed to tell you all that I will be unable to do any stamping for several weeks.  This past Wednesday I fell and broke my right elbow.  I am right handed, so needless to say, managing just regular day to day activities is pretty challenging. (just typing this using only my left hand is kind'a hard) My arm is currently in a hard splint as it is too swollen to cast.  I have an appointment with an "ortho" doc on Tuesday and hopefully, will find out more details like how long my arm will be "useless".  It is pretty painful, but Motrin is dong a good job of taking the edge off.

I have one final card to share that I made last week and photographed.  It's another "Bella" card.  My niece is a cheerleader so this one is for her.

Supplies
Stamps: Pompom-a-bella by Stampingbella
Card stock: medium pink by Taylored Expressions
Patterned Paper: Be Loved from the 2010 Valentine's key ingredients
Ink: memento tuxedo black, Copics, Color Box chalk in tangerine
Other: classic oval and scalloped oval Nesties, stickles, pink ribbon, the big shot and dimensionals

Even though I won't be posting, I will still be checking in on my fellow bloggers post's for the amazing inspiration you all provide. I am so going to miss participating in challenges.

Happy Independence Day!  I hope you all get to see some great fireworks.
